Profile District of Lebong In Lebong Carbon Conservation Program and Lebong Project Development

District Profile

Lebong district is one of the districts in the province of Bengkulu, Indonesia, Lebong county town  district in Muaraaman, Lebong district was formed from the results of the District based on the Rejang Lebong Law No.39 Year 2003, the District is located in position 105 º -108 º East longitude and 02 º, 65'-03 º, 60 'latitude south along the Bukit Barisan and classification  Range Hill area as the altitude 500-1000 dpl Adminsitratif and consists of 77 villages and district and the District 6 area of the entire 192,424 ha of total area of 134,834.55 ha of this area is a conservation area with the allotment for the National Park Kerinci Sebelat 111,035.00 Ha, Forest Protected 20,777.40 Ha Nature Reserve and 3022.15 Ha

Stakeholder Profile  The proposed Project would involve six (6) key institutional stakeholders:

 

The Kabupaten or District of Lebong, located in Bengkulu Province in southern Sumatra, Indonesia, was created in 2003 from the Rejang Lebong Regency (Law No. 39/2003). As a recognized Conservation District, one of only seven in Indonesia, Lebong is cognizant of the critical importance of the Kerinci Seblat National Park ecosystems that comprise 57% of the district, but also of the need for additional revenue to be contributed directly towards sustainable livelihood development for local communities. The District Government will be the sole project owner and is already collaborating with other local Non-Governmetal Organizations (NGOs) to implement forest monitoring, planning and field observation

Project Profile Lebong Carbon Conservation  Scope of Project:
 
  • Charismatic project in Sumatra neighboring some of the most deforested regions of the island
  • Avoided unplanned mosaic deforestation of an 192,924 hectares district of which 97,331 hectares are insular tropical moist forest
  • Development and sale of forest carbon offsets credits originated from:
    - Avoided Unplanned Deforestation (AUD), and
    - Afforestation, Reforestation and Revegetation (ARR) activity
  • Biodiversity Enhancement Conservation
  • Project baseline will be determined by using historical deforestation trends projecting into a future baseline
  • Voluntary Carbon Standard 2007.1 AFOLU Guidelines

The District of Lebong (Lebong) and Carbon Conservation (CC) are inviting investors to participate in the Lebong REDD+ Rainforest Rescue Project, a world-class Avoided Deforestation REDD+ project. Lebong was formerly part of the Regency of Rejang Lebong, and through national accreditation on 7 January 2004 by the Indonesian Minister of Home Affairs.
